I am a science communicator at Ghent University and love my job because science can be so exciting and inspiring! Previously I was a researcher in experimental psychology, and the human brain continues to fascinate me. Oh, I also like (trail-)running, hiking, travelling, reading, (hot) yoga, eating chocolate and drinking tea!.

Atoms to Galaxies
A natural born dreamer with a background in physics, philosophy and art. Science is fascinating because it unfolds nature and it enables new possibilities, therefore I am eager to increase science awareness in society. You can check some of my efforts here.

I am a marine biologist by degree and I currently work at VIB as a data scientist. I also work as a freelance visual science communicator and I’m involved in a non profit that organises science workshops for children.

I’m a science enthusiast with a background in chemistry. On my youtube channel - Studio Doedies Zot - I talk (and sometimes even sing) about all things science. Apart from making these videos, I also love scuba diving, acting and travelling.

Collaboration towards excellent interdisciplinary research and creating societal impact lies at the core of my interest at the UGent IDC consortium ‘Crime, Criminology & Criminal Policy’. Being convinced that more collaboration between SSH and STEMM and exchange with the public can boost science tremendously. This is just the beginning!

I am a chemical engineer currently pursuing a PhD in catalytic reaction engineering. To show the broad public how exciting science can be, I am involved in several science communication projects at Ghent University. Specifically, with our own hands-on workshops for all ages, we try to awake the inner inventor in all of us!

I am a graduate student in Biochemical Engineering Technology. I am passionate about biotechnology and more specifically bioinformatics, genetics and statistics. I also love to bring science to the public. By joining PoS, that's obviously made possible. Also: science + beer, can you even wish for more?

As a scientific researcher, I am fortunate to say that science is part of my everyday live! I teach both mathematical and statistical oriented courses. I just love to fire up people for the beauty of maths and statistics. I also like running and swimming every week and volunteering for Oxfam!

As a Bio-engineer, I've always been passionate about science and mathematics and their impact on our society. Investigating the effects of medicines in children taught me how one needs to tackle a problem from different sides in order to get the best solution. After all this science, I love to drink a beer in my own bar. Combining the two? A dream come true!

During the day I work as a customs officer who’s developing software to improve our government’s workflow. Any other time you might find me learning about peak performance of the human mind or launching my own side-hustle

As a plant-biotechnology expert I'm really fascinated about genetics, plant phenotyping and..., let's say applied science in general.
I'm a strong believer in science communication as the best tool to execrate the knowledge of the science and the applications that science can provide to the society.

Researcher at UGent, I work on optimizing urine and manure processing plant to increase nutrient and water recovery. At festivals such as the Gentse Feesten and Dranouter we turn urine into fertilizers and from the recuperated water we brew the latest generation of Sewer to Brewer beer !

I’m a big fan of getting research more visible and create new, fun ways of communicating your findings to the broad society. So I did not hesitate at all when I heard Pint of Science Ghent was looking for volunteers! Let’s rock together and make science hot and sexy!

As a Ghent University communication staff member I think it’s very important that science and society stick together. Last year I organised 200 years Ghent University which at its main event showed this connection does work. And if you can combine it with cosiness and a drink, honestly, what could be better…
